HCG is short for human chorionic gonadotropin. It is a natural hormone found in the body. The FDA states that, “HCG is a hormone extracted from the urine of pregnant women. It is approved by the FDA for the treatment of certain problems of the male reproductive system and in stimulating ovulation in women who have had difficulty becoming pregnant. No evidence has been presented, however, to substantiate claims for HCG as a weight loss aid.” This is absolutely true, it is not approved for weight loss because taking HCG on its own will not result in weight loss. The key to using HCG for weight loss is to take prescription HCG in combination with a strict diet. You need to do both in order to have successful weight loss.
